Cluj Hit Back At Chelsea Boss Scolari's Champions League Jibes

Share

They may already be out of the reckoning in Europe, but Cluj are not lying down in the wake of Big Phil's threats to quit the Blues if they don't dispose of their Romanian opponents this week...

Chelsea appeared to be cruising out of Group A and into the last 16 after going unbeaten in their first three Champions League ties this season.

However, their trouncing by Roma on Matchday 4 was followed up by a draw with Girondins Bordeaux, meaning have conceded top spot and are yet to book their passage to the knockout rounds.

After seeing his side struggle in France, Luiz Felipe Scolari boldly declared that he might as well flee to his native Brazil if the Blues cannot overcome CFR Cluj this Tuesday.

It was a big call from Felipao, especially considering that the Romanian club claimed victory at the Stadio Olimpico - which Chelsea could not - and held the Premier League heavyweights when they visited Napoca.

Emmanuel Culio was particularly riled by Scolari's comments, and he will be holding nothing back at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night.

"That was a lack of respect for Cluj and Romanian football," the Argentine winger told The Sun.

"We’ve proved we’re more than good enough to beat great sides and we can certainly beat Chelsea.

"He can’t just say that if Cluj win or draw he will leave and go to Brazil."

Anything but a victory could prove disastrous for Chelsea, as even a draw could see them dumped into the UEFA Cup should Bordeaux upset Roma.
