Aalborg to part company with Rioch

Danish titleholders Aalborg BK have said coach Bruce Rioch will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the year.

Hamrén replacement
AaB have ended any uncertainty about the coach's position by stating they "are looking for a long-term solution", with Rioch having been recruited for the autumn campaign in Denmark as a temporary replacement for Erik Hamrén. The latter led AaB to the Superligaen championship before moving on to Rosenborg BK in July. Under Rioch, the team have made a poor start to their title defence, lying second from bottom in the table, yet reached the UEFA Champions League group stage where they have one point from two matches.

'Long-term solution'
Aalborg sporting director Lyng Jakobsen said: "Regarding a head coach, we are looking for a long-term solution and will make further announcements when we have reached an agreement with a new coach." Rioch, the 61-year-old former Scotland captain and Arsenal FC manager, will oversee his final game at the AaB helm when the side visit Manchester United FC for Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League on 10 December
