Injuries sideline Buffon and Camoranesi

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and winger Mauro Camoranesi face spells on the sidelines after suffering right thigh injuries in the 2-1 Serie A home loss against US Città di Palermo on Sunday.

Injuries confirmed
The pair underwent scans today and were immediately ruled out of Italy's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Montenegro on 11 and 15 October respectively, with AC Siena goalkeeper Gianluca Curci called up. The Italian national team doctor, Enrico Castellacci, explained: "Buffon has a tear to his right thigh and it usually takes 30 days to recover from that kind of injury. Camoranesi's knock is less serious and he will need 15-20 days to recover."

Madrid fixtures
Buffon, only just back from a similar injury, is therefore out of the home UEFA Champions League fixture against Real Madrid CF on 21 October and a doubt for the return in Spain on 5 November. Camoranesi could be available for the first of those fixtures as Juve attempt to make up a two-point deficit on the Group H leaders.
