Milan set for talks over Beckham

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed he is set to hold talks over David Beckham's possible loan move from LA Galaxy in January.

Galliani said on Thursday: "Beckham's lawyers will be in Milan today. We will begin negotiations.

"I do not know if we will have a positive outcome or not but I hope and I believe that we will."

Beckham, 33, wants to stay fit in the MLS close-season but would return to the US in March for the new campaign.

The former England captain had been a target of Milan before, in January 2007, but opted instead to move to Los Angeles from Real Madrid.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has given the blessing for the midfielder to join up with his squad, and provide more competition for places.

Earlier this week LA Galaxy announced they have postponed their December tour of Australia because of Beckham's impending move to Italy.

LA Galaxy had been due to face the Queensland Roar on 11 December in Brisbane but will rearrange the fixture for a later date, yet to be confirmed.

"We were not in a position to absolutely guarantee David Beckham's availability," Galaxy's business operations president Tom Payne said.

"To avoid disappointment for the fans it was decided to postpone this game."

However, the Galaxy will still play a 6 December fixture against an Oceania All Star team in Auckland, New Zealand.

Beckham scored against Sydney FC last November, when the Galaxy previously toured Australia.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder is hoping that a move to Milan will boost his chances of selection in the national squad.
