Injured Rivas out for Inter

Share

FC Internazionale Milano defender Nelson Rivas has been ruled out of action for at least two months due to a right knee injury suffered during the 2-1 Serie A home win against Bologna FC on Saturday.

Ligament damage
The result took Inter top of the table alongside S.S. Lazio ahead of Sunday's encounters, but it did not come without cost. After being forced to leave the field on 73 minutes, 25-year-old Rivas underwent scans that revealed a rupture in the outer collateral ligaments of his right knee. "Now we will have to decide whether to go for surgery or conservative therapies," said Inter doctor Franco Combi. "We are relieved that neither cruciate ligaments nor the tibia are involved." The Colombian centre-back, who has not been included in Inter's UEFA Champions League squad list, will undergo further exams on Monday but faces at least a couple of months on the sidelines.
