Atletico Prez Tips Gerrard For Acting Career

Atlético Madrid president and film-maker Enrique Cerezo has today said that Steven Gerrard should consider a career in acting after appearing to dive for a penalty in the Champions League this week...

Enrique Cerezo is never short of a word or two and as he spoke today it is fair to say that he was well qualified on both the subjects in question; football and acting. The Atlético Madrid president made his name in the cinema industry before moving into football, and speaking to Spanish daily Marca he had some useful advice for Liverpool player Steven Gerrard.

"The best thing that Gerrard could do is to be hired for a movie because he acts very well," said Cerezo.

"It was frustrating the other day that we did qualify for the next round and that penalty meant we came away with just a point.

"It is very annoying but at the same time you cannot do anything about it. Once the game has finished you cannot do anything, you can hit your head against the wall but nothing more, because nothing can change the result."

Despite the draw though Cerezo had praise for his side today and said that they have had a great season in Europe so far and will have one in Spain too.

"We are one of the few teams still undefeated and I am focused on my side. Atlético have had a great season in the Champions League and I believe that from Sunday we will have a great season in Spain too," opined the president.

"The game against Liverpool was important because it was in the Champions League but the one against Osasuna is more important as we have to improve our position in the league. At the moment it is good and if we win this Sunday and then against Deportivo we can put ourselves in the top four."
