Rome Not At Risk Of Losing CL Final

Uefa deny there is a chance that Rome's Olympic stadium will lose the right to host the Champions League final because of fan trouble in the recent Roma-Chelsea match.

Uefa have denied that Rome is at risk of losing the right to host next May's Champions League final. There were rumours that the Stadio Olimpico would no longer be allowed to host the event after crowd trouble and alleged insufficient organisation at the recent Champions League match against Chelsea.

Investigations have been opened about the use of fireworks and obstruction by spectators during the November 4 game, but that doesn't mean there is any danger that the final will be assigned to another stadium.

"I don't know who spread these ridiculous rumours," said Uefa spokesman William Gaillard.

FIGC director Demetrio Albertini also says there is no chance Roma won't be hosting the showpiece.

"Security will be examined and everything will be prepared in every detail to make this the best final ever," the former Milan midfielder said.

Certainly hosting this match will be a chance for Italian football to show that fan disorders are not as big a problem as some people think, so losing the right to host the final at this point in time would be a big blow.
